Integrative cancer support

Personalised nutrition and lifestyle support

before, during and after conventional cancer treatment

Systems Approach to Cancer®

by Dr Nina Fuller-Shavel

Cancer support at Nutrigen Paris is designed to work alongside, never in place of, conventional oncology care. Recommendations are personalised according to the individual’s diagnosis, treatment, health status and needs, with particular attention to safety, potential interactions and situations requiring medical referral.

The proposed protocol is always shared with the treating doctor or oncology team for review and approval before implementation. This collaborative approach helps ensure that nutrition, lifestyle and supplement recommendations remain aligned with conventional treatment and the patient’s overall medical care.

Nutrigen Paris has undertaken specialist training in integrative cancer support, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice, treatment safety, recognition of clinical red flags and the appropriate scope of nutritional therapy.

Cancer Risk Reduction

Nutrition, physical activity and other lifestyle factors can play an important role in cancer prevention and long-term health. Evidence-informed strategies are tailored to individual health, lifestyle and relevant risk factors, with a focus on addressing modifiable factors associated with cancer risk and supporting overall health.

Support During Cancer Treatment

Cancer and its treatment can place considerable physical and emotional demands on the body. Personalised strategies aim to support nutritional status, help manage treatment-related side effects, maintain physical and emotional resilience and support quality of life throughout treatment.

Recommendations may include nutrition, appropriate physical activity, lifestyle strategies and targeted supplementation where relevant.

Particular attention is given to the safety and appropriateness of supplements and complementary interventions, with potential interactions with medications and oncology treatments carefully reviewed.

Recovery, Survivorship & Recurrence Risk

Support can continue after active treatment has finished. A personalised programme can help promote recovery and long-term wellbeing while addressing modifiable nutrition and lifestyle factors associated with recurrence risk.

The aim is to support sustainable changes that contribute to overall health and quality of life beyond active treatment.

Advanced & Metastatic Cancer

Advanced or metastatic cancer requires specific consideration. Recommendations are adapted to the individual’s clinical situation, symptoms, priorities and evolving needs, with an emphasis on maintaining nutritional status, function and quality of life.

Particular considerations are also taken into account for people receiving complex treatment regimens or participating in clinical trials.
