Natural therapies work gently and in harmony with the body. Therefore, a naturopathic program should last at least three months and usually consists of an initial consultation and ideally two follow-up consultations.

The first consultation normally lasts about 90 minutes to gather information on the person's condition, medical history, body systems function, diet, lifestyle and possible treatments. If necessary, blood, stool and functional tests may be recommended. 

After a thorough analysis of the data, a personalized naturopathic protocol is formulated to provide the body with the optimum chance to heal itself. The plan may include recommendations on diet, lifestyle, physical activity and other suitable natural remedies such as supplements as well as referrals to other practitioners as part of an integrated approach to healthcare. 

The plan is then discussed with the client and adapted according to their limitations to ensure feasibility and optimize compliance for the best chance of success.

A follow-up consultation usually takes place 4 weeks after the initial consultation and lasts about 45 minutes. It helps monitor progress, review any new complaints and fine-tune recommendations according to the client’s needs and experienced limitations.
